Questions

What happens when you contact a CPO® (certified professional organizer)?

When S.O.S. receives a call from a potential client, arrangements are made for a consultation and assessment of the circumstances.   The client and organizer then sit down to discuss what the vision and goals are.   We work together to prioritize what has to be done in order to tackle the client’s biggest challenge first.

How long will it take to get me organized?

This is a difficult question to answer because every situation and person is different. Many times it depends on how quickly the client can make decisions as to what will stay and what will go. Always keep in mind that this situation did not happen overnight and it will not go away overnight. The object is to always get you organized as efficiently and quickly as possible with a system that works for you but is still flexible and easy to maintain.

How can an organizer help long term?

There is no doubt that being organized is not always easy to maintain.   S.O.S. feels that about 80% of being organized is maintaining what has been accomplished.   If the system is not maintained, things tend to quickly revert to the way they were.  A maintenance schedule suited to your needs is always available to help you keep on the right track to achieving your long term goals.

Does SOS do the work alone or do we work one-on-one?

SOS works both ways. It is essential that the client be involved in the organizing process when working with paper piles and setting up files. When working with “stuff” it is sometimes helpful to the overwhelmed client to have the organizer do a “general sort” of the items.   This allows the client to come into a more organized setting and calmly and easily make decisions about the categorized items.   S.O.S. is very willing and always interested in teaching new systems and techniques to the client.   Nothing is ever removed or discarded without the approval of the client.

Will my organizing sessions be confidential?

Stevie Organizing Services keeps ALL client information strictly confidential.  S.O.S. will use proprietary client information only with the client’s permission.  S.O.S. will not use any client information to benefit myself or my firm, or reveal this information to others.

Can you afford to be organized? Can you afford not to be?

The average person on an average day spends from 30 minutes to 2 hours just looking for things!   Have you ever added up the amount of time you waste wondering where your wallet, keys, or glasses have gone?    Do you currently have your possessions stored in an offsite storage unit?  How much are you spending per year for that solution?     Being organized not only saves you time and money but can also give you peace of mind.  It’s hard to put a price on that.

Is there a one-size fits-all organizing solution for everyone?

NO!  Every person and business is unique that’s why I love my job so much.  Each person has their own definition of clutter.  Dealing with the clutter in your life is a very emotional and psychological issue.   Each situation is brand new; however, the process of getting organized is similar regardless of what area is being worked on.   The ultimate solution must be customized for you.

Do you hate junk mail?

If you haven't already you can opt out of the main sources of junk mail by by going to the Direct Marketing Association website -- dmachoice.org. The Direct Marketing Association divides direct mail into four categories: credit offers, catalogs, magazine offers and other offers.
For each of these categories, you can choose whether or not you want to receive mail from them. If you would like to, you can choose to stop receiving mail for the all companies you haven't purchased from or donated to within an entire category. The good news is that any choices you make will be effective for five years from the date you make them.
